Using rich media ads, not static banner ads

Friday, August 7th, 2009

Rich media ads, or animated ads, offer much more flexibility than static ads. Animated ads can have several frames for you to advertise, are more creative and eye-catching and entertain the customer a lot more than a regular static ad would.

Flash ads offer a tremendous amount of creativity for design, but some people don’t have the latest Flash on their computer, so your ad may not display correctly, if at all.

Avoid Under Construction pages

Friday, August 7th, 2009

Under construction pages are absolute killers for websites! If you are not ready to open your website, then don’t advertise it! About the only exception is when you are offering a new area of your website that you want to reveal on a certain day (July 4th, launch of a new movie, etc)

Offer financing/installment plans

Friday, August 7th, 2009

If you sell something a little on the expensive side, you might consider financing that purchase. You can do this via in-house credit or an outside vendor, such as Paypal. If doing Paypal, you can create a button for website payments that you can set the dollar amount monthly and the term length of financing.

This is a great way to get customers who you might not otherwise get if asking for all the funds up front.

Show them, not tell them

Friday, August 7th, 2009

Anyone can open a website and tell the world how awesome they are, how great their product is and how quick their service is. But, can convince them of this?

Showing the customer what you can do for them always goes a lot further than telling them. Show the customer how great your product/service is by posting real testimonials, video clips of your product in action, etc

Reward biggest customers

Friday, August 7th, 2009

Have a few customers that come to you religiously for your product/service? Why not reward them? Offering your larger repeat customers some type of reward is an excellent way to thank them for their business. It can also foster a ‘friendship’ between you and the customer that will result in better word-of-mouth advertising for you.

This can also motivate your smaller customers to purchase more from you by offering them some kind of reward if they order X amount of product from you. Rewards can be anything from free shipping, free upgrade to express shipping, free downloadable products, free discount codes, etc.
