Sometimes charging a customer a bit more for your product can work if you include a bonus product/service attached to it. Auto dealerships do this a lot by getting you to focus on what they offer you after the sale… free oil changes, etc.
You don’t have to be the best price out there to make money, but you do have to be the website that adds value to that product if you are not selling at rock bottom prices and offering a bonus to your customer can be a great way to do that.

Offering the same products/services that everyone else offers can still be a sustainable business, but that means you have to offer something better in the way of cheaper prices, free shipping, etc. However, if you offer something that very little number of competitors are offering, then you stand a much better chance at creating a market niche that can survive many of the economic ups-and-downs.
In addition, you become the ‘go-to’ website when it comes to this area of specialization and that can create some buzz in that specific community about you and your website.

It’s great to offer a ton of products, but if they are all junk products, then who is buying? Focusing your site on quality and not quantity will attract the right kind of buyers to your website… repeat customers for long-term growth and sustainability.

Getting your website profiled by a local newspaper or online newspaper is a tremendous way to advertise your website. When you website gets profiled, or reviewed, customers know that this is not an advertisement from you but and independent review from another potential customer.
Contact your local newspaper or search online for newsletters or e-zines that cater to your market and ask them if they would like to review your website in their next publishing.

Holiday promotions can create some excitement in your website that might otherwise be lacking or stale. It is important that you create promotions that appeal to all, but when certain holidays come up, this allows you to put a little holiday flare on your ads. For example, July 4th you could change and make some red/white/blue banners, newsletters, etc that advertise your special July 4th savings.
